PBL
Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is a whole-school approach that explicitly teaches students the behaviours needed to be safe, respectful and successful learners. At Newbery Park, this means we intentionally teach, model and celebrate these behaviours every day, creating a consistent and supportive environment for all.
The impact has been powerful. Students are calm, engaged and confident, with a clear understanding of what success looks like in both learning and social situations. This shared understanding creates a strong sense of belonging and allows every child to thrive.
We are always seeking ways to engage our students in positive and meaningful ways. Initiatives such as our Rockstar for Relievers program celebrate students who demonstrate our expectations when working with visiting teachers, while our attendance incentive program encourages strong routines and a commitment to learning. These approaches recognise and reinforce the positive choices our students make every day.
PBL is highly valued at Newbery Park because it builds a culture of encouragement, consistency and high expectations. It ensures every child feels supported, recognised and capable, laying the foundation for both wellbeing and academic success.
