Creative Arts

Creative Arts at Newbery Park Primary School is a vibrant and valued part of school life, providing students with powerful opportunities to express themselves, build confidence and connect with others. We see the arts as essential to a well-rounded education, supporting not only creativity but also wellbeing, engagement and a strong sense of identity.

Our Creative Arts program is enriched by passionate teaching and authentic experiences. Music plays a central role, with students regularly engaging in singing, performance and composition. Under the expert guidance of our Creative Arts teacher, Sarah Fewster, students have written and performed original pieces, including songs shared at community events such as Harmony Day. These experiences give students a genuine sense of pride and accomplishment, as they see their work valued beyond the classroom.

Opportunities extend beyond the school day, with offerings such as after-school piano lessons supporting students to further develop their skills and interests. The arts are also integrated across the curriculum, allowing students to explore ideas through multiple modes and make meaningful connections to their learning.

Creative Arts at Newbery Park is about more than performance – it is about voice, connection and belonging. Whether students are composing music, performing for an audience or engaging in creative expression in the classroom, they are supported to take risks, share their ideas and grow in confidence. Through Creative Arts, our students learn to collaborate, communicate and contribute to the rich cultural life of our school community.
