About Us
Principal’s Welcome – A Letter from Leanne
Leanne Scudds
Principal
At the heart of our work is a strong focus on social connection and belonging. We intentionally create opportunities for students to build relationships across the school, developing leadership, empathy and a genuine sense of community. Whether it is through shared experiences, cross-age connections or whole-school events, our students learn what it means to be part of something bigger than themselves. This strong social foundation ensures every child feels seen, included and valued.
Wellbeing underpins everything we do. We prioritise calm, predictable environments where students feel safe, supported and ready to learn. Through approaches such as Positive Behaviour for Learning, restorative practices and trauma-informed strategies, we explicitly teach students how to navigate social situations, regulate their emotions and build resilience. Our focus on wellbeing creates the conditions for students to engage fully in their learning and develop confidence in themselves as learners.
We are equally committed to academic rigour, ensuring every student is challenged, supported and making strong progress. Our five-phase timetable, inspired by Finnish education models, is designed to maximise engagement through shorter, focused learning blocks and regular breaks that support concentration and stamina. We embed strong Effective Learner practices across all year levels, explicitly teaching students how to learn, set goals and reflect on their progress. Through evidence-based teaching and high expectations, we empower our students to achieve success and see themselves as capable, confident learners.
