Today we celebrated the launch of our Indigenous Learning Space “Budinya Mraatu”.
The launch included a Welcome to Country by Aunty Michelle and a smoking ceremony by Uncle Doug. Along with this Aunty Michelle and our year 3/4 students explained the meaning of the ‘Craitbul’ story that our learning space represents.
A project such as this takes an enormous amount of planning and Ang (Eco Learning SSO) and Donna (ACEO) have led this from the beginning and have done a tremendous job in this space.
We welcomed special guests, visitors, families and friends and students spent the day planting and participating in cultural activities.

Today students enjoyed the story "Family Tree" by Josh Pyke for National Simultaneous Storytime.

This year Newbery Park students decorated a leaf which included their family members. They were placed on their class trees that were kindly loaned to our school by McCourts Garden Centre – thank you!

We were lucky enough to be joined by McArthur Park Kindy who also placed leaves onto their tree just like the big kids.

A special thank you to Charli from Rm 10 for her awesome art work on the white board in the Library of her idea of family.
