Today, students from Newbery Park collaborated with peers from Tea Tree Gully and Trinity Gardens as part of the Chief Executive Student Voice Forums.

Together, we continued to strengthen our network and deepen our understanding of Learning and Performance modes. Students shared classroom examples of how these modes are applied in practice and engaged in meaningful discussions around the concept of planning for mistake-making; recognising that mistakes are an inevitable part of learning and that thoughtful preparation can lead to more constructive responses when they occur.

On Friday, we had the pleasure of welcoming the delightful Dr Ruth Schubert as our guest cook for the whole-school lunch. Students were treated to a delicious chicken casserole with garlic bread; a perfect winter warmer!
Dr Ruth, our Education Director for the past seven years, is currently on long service leave to focus on her painting. Not only is she an incredibly talented artist, but sheโ€™s also a truly wonderful human being. Weโ€™re so grateful she took the time to come in and cook with, and for, our beautiful students. โค๏ธ
A big thank you as well to Darcy, our future chef, who was an amazing student helper! โค๏ธ

Being part of the Playberry Tier 1, 2, and 3 Intervention programs. Itโ€™s been incredibly rewarding to watch students grow in confidence and capability each day, and to see their eagerness to strive for excellence.
Iโ€™m also proud of our new kitchen and the opportunities itโ€™s created. Working alongside Kathy Lang to teach students life skills through cooking has been a real highlight. Seeing the whole school come together each Friday to share a cooked lunch has been truly special.

Well done Linda. You will get sooo many rewards out of being an SSO. The biggest one is knowing you have made a difference to many of the kids. Enjoy it as I did for 24 years at MNPS

It’s been wonderful to see you grow into your role, Linda. You form warm, supportive relationships with students and I love how excited you become when they achieve a goal!! So proud of you โค๏ธ

Lucky children

On Wednesday after school, we were joined by parents, grandparents and Miss Scudds with our young people to learn how to cook savoury scones and a delicious vegetable soup!

Thank you to everyone who came along! We hope you enjoyed the class as much as Mrs Lang enjoyed teaching it!

We look forward to our next family cooking class in week 6 where we will be making a yummy sweet treat! โค๏ธ
